Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park Photography Workshop
25 September - 2 October 2011

We had a wonderful time during our Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park workshop last year, and will be offering the workshop again for 2011.  The workshop will begin on the evening of Sunday, 25 September 2011, and run through the morning of Sunday, 2 October 2011.  Based on our many years of experience photographing this area, we know this is typically the best time of the year to obtain beautiful fall foliage images in Grand Teton National Park, and to photograph the wildlife activity (especially the bears) in Yellowstone National Park as they forage for food in preparation for the long winter ahead.

The price for the workshop includes seven nights of in-park lodging, and six full days of photography and instruction.  Note that a large portion of the cost of this workshop is due to the cost of in-park lodging.  We're convinced however that this arrangement provides the best "bang-for-the-buck" since we will be able to maximize our time photographing in the park without wasting time traveling to and from the park each day.  While in Grand Teton National Park we will be staying at Signal Mountain Lodge, which is a great location on the shore of Lake Jackson and the only lakefront accommodations in the park.  While in Yellowstone we will be staying in the historic "Old House" at the Old Faithful Inn. The Old Faithful Inn is one of the historic "gems" of the national park system, and is a wonderful place to stay.

Since the Old Faithful Inn is right in the heart of the geological activity in Yellowstone, with a wonderful view of Old Faithful, we will have ample opportunity to photograph the park's famous geological features.

Our goal is to provide you with the best possible memories of a wonderful week in this special place.  As teachers and mentors, we strive to provide the best possible photography opportunities and instruction during the week of the workshop.  This is not a "photo tour" where the instructors photograph alongside the participants, but a true "workshop" where we will put aside our own photography for the week and concentrate on providing you with the knowledge and skills to significantly improve your photography.  We will teach both the technical aspects required for a good foundation, and the more creative aspects of photography that will help you return home with images you will be proud of.  Although our goal is to maximize our shooting time, we will also take advantage of any "down time" to teach post-processing techniques on the computer.

The workshop price is $1395 per person (double occupancy).  (Please keep in mind that this includes seven nights of in-park lodging.  By comparison, most week-long Yellowstone photography workshops cost about $3,000 per person.)  Because rooms are limited, we highly encourage "double occupancy," (all rooms at Signal Mountain Lodge and in the "Old House" in Yellowstone have two beds) however a single occupancy rate is available at an additional cost of $750 per person.  Because the historic "old house" portion of the Old Faithful Inn was built in the tradition of the classic park lodges, the bathrooms are down the hall.  Although that might seem a bit odd to folks accustomed to modern travel accommodations, most of our workshop participants find that having to share a bathroom down the hall (with individual showers, etc.) is less of an inconvenience than what they anticipated.  We will have an option to upgrade your room in the Old Faithful Inn to one with a bathroom in the room (in the newer part of the Lodge); however this will increase the cost of your workshop by $120 per person, double occupancy.  If you want to upgrade to a room with a bath while in Yellowstone, please specify that in your correspondence with us.

The 2010 workshop was limited to eight participants; however, with the 2011 workshop over 1/2 full even before our formal announcement, we're considering increasing the maximum number of participants to ten.  Please contact us as soon as possible if you are interested in joining us for the 2011 Workshop.  A $200 deposit will be required to reserve your slot, with full payment due by 1 September 2011.

This workshop is one of the highlights of our year, and hope you can join us for this wonderful experience.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

I'll leave you with a few images from last year's participants:

There are many more wonderful images from the workshop participants in the Gallery if you care to take a look.  Every one of our participants has enjoyed this workshop immensely, and it gives us great pleasure to receive feedback like this:

Julie and I had the time of our lives on this trip. Not only experiencing the wonders of Grand Tetons and Yellowstone but the blessing of fellowship with other photographers. This was the first "vacation" Julie and I have had alone in 20 years and was energizing! We look forward to going again (God willing) and can not thank you and Rebbecca enough for your expert instruction, skilled guiding, and warm fellowship during the trip. (and you can quote me on this!)

Thanks,
Lorin

We've had a cancellation for our Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park Workshop scheduled for 25 September - 2 October 2011 (due to an unforseen job change and relocation) and so have one double occupancy room now available.  This is a wonderful opportunity to join a small group of passionate photographers as we explore and photograph these two amazing parks.  We need to release our unfilled reservations for in-park lodging by 1 September 2011, so please contact us at 316-686-8497 as soon as possible if you are interested.
