We all have our "treasures" that we have collected throughout the years. For me, this would probably be my small collection of classic camera equipment, that for most people would have no significant value. I don't use the film cameras anymore, because in reality digital has far surpassed the capabilities of 35mm film; however, I still marvel at the engineering that went into designing the Nikormat and similar era cameras. For their time, they were amazing examples of engineering and ergonomics. They're still great tools for teaching photography, simplifying the technical aspects to the basics of metering, shutter speed, aperture and ISO. Now that my family and I are packing for another move, I'll revisit how many of these "treasures" I want to keep; however, I suspect that I'll still hang on to a few of them because of my appreciation for the excellence in design these products represent.
Your assignment for the week of 11 - 17 May is "Treasures." Your challenge is to compose an image of your "treasures" that conveys why you value these unique items. Please upload your images to the "Treasures" album in the Weekly Assignments category of the gallery no-later-than midnight Mountain Time (GMT - 07:00) on Sunday, 17 May 2009. I'll look forward to seeing your "treasures."
