This location has been shot a million times of course but this is a little snap that brings back fond memories....its not great....it was shot on a little Kodak digicam and was a fairly long exposure handheld without IS....well thats my excuse anyway :)

Geoff,

Not bad for a handheld shot.   :)  And, the important thing is that, as you said, it brings back fond memories.

Sometimes I think we get caught up in the "technical" merits of a photo, when in reality, if it successfully captures the "essence" of a place, then it is a successful photo, regardless of whether it is technically perfect or not.  I think your shot successfully captures the essence of Grand Central Station.

I have many photos like this from my time in Europe.  Although I look at them now and think, "what a lousy photographer I was back then," the photos still bring back many many fond memories.

Keith I think we all go thru a phase were we become obsessive about the technical quality....a passion to create the highest IQ. I'm glad to say I'm more interested in the content these days...well most of the time...and endeavour to capture little slices of time and mood. A photograph is of course the easiest way to time travel......
