Title: Weekly Assignment: "A Way of Life," 25 - 31 August, 2008
Post by: keithsnell on August 24, 2008, 02:17:35 PM
The assignment for the week of 25 - 31 August, 2008 is a "thematic" assignment, titled "A Way of Life."  The assignment is to photograph a scene that conveys "a way of life" for a culture, subculture, or group of people.  Some examples would be images of cultures who maintain unique customs, such as the Amish and Mennonites in the U.S., or subcultures that have their own unique dress, manners, rituals, and way of looking at the world (for example cowboys, ranchers, fishermen, etc).  Tradesmen and craftsmen often practice a "way of life" as well, as do truckers, farmers, artists, etc.  Your image should "tell a story," and will be most successful if it evokes an emotional response in the viewer.

Please upload your images to the "Way of Life" album in the Weekly Assignments category of the gallery no later than midnight, Mountain Time (GMT -07:00), 31 August 2008.  I'm looking forward to seeing some fascinating images from our members in other parts of the world.
