We've had photography assignments in the past for "Isolation," "Balance," "Soft Light," Serenity," "Distraction Free," "Harmonious Colors," and other topics that emphasize composing a simple, balanced, soft, pleasing image. Sometimes though, it helps us learn by exploring a technique or theme from the perspective of it's opposite.
In honor of our family's move from Colorado to Kansas this week, the assignment is "Chaos." Your images should convey "chaos" to the viewer. An "unbalanced," image full of distractions and discordant colors would certainly be one way to convey "chaos." Consciously striving to include these qualities in your images will make you more likely to recognize them in the future, and consequently more likely to effectively eliminate them if you are trying to compose a simple, balanced, serene and pleasing image.
