"Curves," Weekly Assignment for 17 - 23 November 2008
« on: November 17, 2008, 02:48:16 PM »
The assignment for the week of 17 - 23 November 2008 is "Curves."  Curved lines can provide a sense of grace, elegance or sensuality in an image, as seen in the two examples below.   The gentle curve of the blade of grass in Joyce's Wet Grass image adds a sense of grace and becomes one of the main compositional elements in the image.

The curved lines of the wall in Cindy Hopkins Miller's image of the Guggenheim Museum in Spain lend a sense of elegance and sensuality to what would otherwise be a large, unappealing blank space.

Curved lines can also be used as very powerful "leading lines" to lead your viewer into and through the image.

Your assignment is to compose an image in which "curves" are a primary compositional element.  Please upload your images to the "Curves" album in the Weekly Assignments section of the gallery no later than midnight Mountain Time (GMT-07:00) on Sunday, 23 November 2008.
